Brent Johnson Claimed By Caps
The Washington Capitals plucked goaltender Brent Johnson from waivers. Johnson was placed on waivers by the Vancouver Canucks for the purpose of assigning him to the Manitoba Moose.
In a previous post, I was excited at Johnson's acquisition and the Canucks' goaltender depth. With his experience, Johnson gave the team a good third option behind Cloutier and Auld. And after a strong preseason, some even argued that Johnson should have started the season with the Canucks. As it stands now, 37-year old Wade Flaherty is the next goalie call-up from the Moose; Rob McIvar moves up the depth chart as well.
Yikes.
