If Sportsnet broadcasts 45 games as in previous years, then we can safely guess that the remaining 19 games will be on pay-per-view. The less Sportsnet signs on for, the more games, presumably, will be on pay-per-view.

I'll update this post as Sportsnet and the Canucks release more of their TV schedule.

[update: 09/07/06, 7:08 AM]

Bumping this up now that Sportsnet and the Canucks have agreed on a multi-year deal. I've updated the Canucks broadcast TV schedule above to include all Sportsnet and pay-per-view games this season.

80 of 82 games are going to be on TV this season, the first time in recent years that not all Canucks games will be shown. The two games not on TV are: the Oct. 21st game @ Nashville and the Apr. 7th game @ San Jose.

[update: 10/15/06, 12:30 PM]

CBC has now decided to air the Oct. 21st game vs. the Nashville Predators. BC residents will see the game starting at 5 PM.

[update: 03/07/07, 7:05 PM]

CBC has now also added the Apr. 7th afternoon matinee vs. the San Jose Sharks. Game starts at 1 PM. Thanks to a reader for the heads-up.

The Canucks and Sportsnet only agreed to a contract last week so I imagine they will release their regional and PPV schedules soon.

For some reason, I heard the number 17 as the number of PPV games this season. I'm not sure if this is accurate as I'm pretty sure they had 21 PPV games last season. Seems weird that after all that talk about increasing the number of PPV games that it would go down.

Anyway, assuming this is true and there will indeed be 17 PPV games, and assuming one of them is an exhibition game (like last season), then that means 48 games on Sportsnet.

Stay tuned. I'll update this page as soon as the Canucks and Sportsnet release this info.

For those two "untelevised" games you mentioned, i assume they are being broadcast in the opposing team's market, no? so if you have center ice, you're covered.

I would think so as well.

Alas, for folks like me who rely on Shaw Digital, we're so far out of luck. A Saturday night Canucks game and we can't even watch it!

I wouldn't be surprised if at least the April game - the second last game of the season - doesn't get added to pay-per-view eventually.

HEY J.J.,
It's good to see that CBC has picked up the second last game (@ San Jose) of the season, just like they picked up a Saturday night game earlier in the season when the Canucks visited the Nashville Predators which had several BC boys on its roster:)
