Morrison's Goal, Naslund's Slump and Some Trade Rumors

While the Canucks enjoy another deserved day off (gamewise anyway), here are some quick hits about our beloved hockey team from today's MSM:
  • It was such a beautiful goal that Gordon McIntyre (Vancouver Province) relives Brendan Morrison's shorthanded goal - the Canucks' first shorthanded goal of the season.
  • Elliott Pap (Vancouver Sun) is waiting for captain Markus Naslund to bust out of his scoring slump. So are we. (Against the Oilers tomorrow night would be nice.)
  • Now that the Christmas trade freeze is over, trade rumors are abound again. Take 'em for what they're worth but Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun (link via Spector's) notes a few, including one that involves Brendan Morrison.
  • With only one point separating first and last place in the Northwest Division - yes, the Canucks are still no. 1, thank you Los Angeles Kings - George Johnson (Calgary Herald) explores whether it is due to parity or if it is simply the toughest division in hockey.
