World Junior Hockey Championships 2006

The 2006 World Junior Hockey Championships opened yesterday, and irresponsible Canadian that I was, I missed Team Canada's 5-1 win over Finland. For coverage of the event, check out Jes GÅ‘lbez's Hockey Rants, who has secured press passes and is reporting from the comfy confines of the Pacific Coliseum press box and has the inside scoop. Hockey Nation has also started posting game-by-game results.

If you weren't able to secure tickets for the games - they have been sold out for months - you can still be part of the festivities through the RBC Fan Fest at the Pacific Coliseum. Among other activities, the Fan Fest will show all Team Canada games on a jumbo video screen. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

Oh, if you want tickets, there is lots of scalper action outside. last night, the scalpers were busy with a non-Canadian game. 12,000 showed up, meaning there were a lot of deals to be had.

Great job on the coverage Jes!

Good to know about the scalpers. I'll be there for the Canada/US game on Saturday, but I was thinking of going to another game or two.

Those catwalks look scary from the stands - I can't even imagine going up there.
