Not So Good Grabner News

This is not the kind of news you want to hear about one of the Canucks' top prospects (Jim Riley, Seattle Times):

Spokane coach Bill Peters benched star forward Michael Grabner, a first-round selection of the Vancouver Canucks (14th overall), in the second period.

"Michael took himself out of the game because he was non-committed," Peters said. "The game was at a physical level that he didn't want to play at. He's healthy. The only thing that might be hurt is his pride, and it should be hurt. It's embarrassing for a first-round pick to play like that in that type of hockey game."

Here's hoping that this is a wake up call for Grabner. It's also possible that he's tiring out from a lengthy schedule that he's not used to, and from the increased physical North American style of play.

I hope so too. The WHL is notorious for its physical play so here's hoping he adjusts quick. It doesn't get any easier in the pros.
