Canucks 1 Oilers 3
It's very different watching the game from so close to the ice. The game is so much faster and the players are so much bigger from in close. The interaction with the players is great - that's right, I'm talking to you Mike Morrison! - but it makes it difficult what goes on in the other end and thus, tougher to write game recaps the day after. It's especially hard when most of the play was going on the opposite end.
The Canucks lost 3-1 to the Edmonton Oilers last night to finish their seven-game road trip with a 3-4 record. They remained tied with the Calgary Flames for first place in the Northwest Division, though they have played one more game than the Flames. Here are some quick notes on the game:
On intensity and emotion:
The Canucks looked tired last night. They showed very little of the same intensity they displayed against the Flames. I'll give most of the team the benefit of the doubt because they did play the night before; however, it's troubling that the Bertuzzi/Naslund combination again displayed very little emotion.
On Auld:
The score was flattering for the Canucks. They should have lost by more. Auld was spectacular in stopping 37 of 40 Edmonton shots.
For the first time this season, I didn't even think that because the Canucks were playing a back-to-back games, that Ouellet would start one of them. Auld is the no. 1 here. There shouldn't be any questions about that now.
On Mike Morrison:
Thanks for being a sport. We appreciate you acknowleding our taunts. It was cool.
On Sacamano from the Battle of Alberta:
It was a pleasure to meet you. We'll have to catch a game together sometime.
Next up: Columbus on Monday. (Home finally.)

Hey cool on the TV gig! Congrats - I'm looking forward to it.
JJ cut out the "monster" thing. Pierre McGuire is a dweeb who is typing to hype the game for an American audience.
Yeeeahhh BITCHES!!!!
JJ...great job with the traveling journal.
Great to meet you too. Terrific work on the road trip journal. Maybe I'll see you in the playoffs . . .
Thanks guys! That was fun! It's too bad there's no hockey blogger convention of some sort - we can all get together, watch some games and drink beer. :)
