Decimated Defense
The Canucks defense-first system is about to get its first major test. Already missing Willie Mitchell after he suffered a concussion a couple of weeks ago, Sami Salo may now be out as well after he suffered a knee injury against the Minnesota Wild last night (Ben Kuzma, Vancouver Province).
Of course, Luc has been thinking about the possibility of sticking around longer (Iain McIntyre, Vancouver Sun):

"It's tough when you lose two of your top three [defencemen]," captain Markus Naslund said of Salo, who will be re-assessed today. "We have to play good team defence and it's got us wins in the past -- even with Willie out."One more question the Canucks would be facing soon is the status of junior age defenseman Luc Bourdon, who played his 7th NHL game last night. If he plays ten games - this could be as soon as the Thursday night game against the Anaheim Ducks - then it burns a full year of his contract. The Canucks could opt to return him to junior before playing that 10th game.
Of course, Luc has been thinking about the possibility of sticking around longer (Iain McIntyre, Vancouver Sun):
"It's human nature to think about it," Bourdon said. "But it's also motivation to play good in these games. I think things are going much better than they did at first. Right now, I think I'm doing a pretty good job."He's doing better than he did his first couple of games, I'll give him that.
