Wild 5 Canucks 2
I suppose all good things have to come to an end. It's not like we could have expected our Canucks to go 41-0 the rest of the season. (Yes, it would have been nice but...)
Last night's 5-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild ended a few streaks. The Canucks, who had scored first in seven straight games, allowed the first one to Minnesota last night; they also allowed a first period goal (first time in seven games) and a couple of powerplay goals (first ones after killing 28 straight chances over the last five games). Most notably, the loss ended the Canucks seven-game win streak.
Painful as it is to admit, the Canucks didn't play like they did over the win streak. They came out flatter than Christina Aguilera before her boob job. The Wild, who themselves had lost 11 straight road games, dominated early and dominated often. The Wild's first goal - an early one on the powerplay and after a questionable holding call on Markus Naslund - set the tone for the rest of the game (not just on the ice but in the stands as well) and the Canucks, save for a brief stretch in the second period, never managed to claw back.
More from the Mainstream
One of my most anticipated games of the season tomorrow night: Hockey Day In Canada against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

More from the Mainstream
- The officiating was atrocious last night, but the Canucks played bad enough that it probably wouldn't changed the outcome. - Iain McIntyre (Vancouver Sun)
- Marion Gaborik is back and healthy. As the Canucks out found last night, that's bad news. - Ben Kuzma (Vancouver Province)

d00d, she wasn't THAT flat before her enhancement. She had enough meat to chew on.
Now, she just looks silly.
NAh, she looks awesome now!
Jeez, I left out the fact that they ended their PK streak and the fact that they had scored first in all 7 games in my post.....not sure why.
Amazing how it all came crashing down in one night.
So what do you think, JJ? Canucks going to beat the Leafs on Saturday?
haha! Not a big fan of 'em fakes.
My prediction for tomorrw:
Canucks build a 2-0 lead and win 4-1. Raycroft gets booed off the ice.
Honestly, I don't care if they go 1-3 on this road trip as long as their one win is tomorrow night. :P
Ha! Usually, both teams score a few goals when they meet. I am going to say 5-4 Leafs!
